STA-BIL NATIONAL LAWN MOWER RACING SERIES RETURNS TO AVON PARK, FLORIDA
Glenview, IL – (Feb. 20, 2009) –The Sunshine State will again be on the cutting edge of American motorsports as the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) presents the first races of the 2009 STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series, April 4-5 in Avon Park, Florida.
On Saturday-Sunday, April 4-5, turf titans will converge on Central Florida as the Florida Lawnracing Association (FLA) presents the STA-BIL 12 Minutes of Avon Park, at the Avon Park Mower Plex, 2155 Herrick Rd, Avon Park, FL. Spectator admission is $5.00 for adults, with children under 12 free. Superticket is $10.00 and includes a pit pass. Racing starts at 7:00 PM April 5 and 1:00 PM April 6.
Event sponsors include Highlands County Tourism Acoustical Services and Gulf Breeze Landscaping.
The USLMRA sanctions and presents organized lawn mower racing across America including the 18-race STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series and a network of 25 Local Chapters and Affiliated Clubs hosting more than 140 sanctioned races nationwide. NASGRASS is the first USLMRA Affiliated Club, chartered in November, 2007. The FLA is one of the original USLMRA Local Chapters, chartered in 2002.
Races feature riding lawn mowers with cutting blades removed at speeds up to 60 mph. Lawn mowers race in four road course classes with all cutting blades removed: Stock (8 mph), IMOW (20 mph), Prepared (50 mph) and Factory Experimental (60 mph). USLMRA lawn mower racing is featured on the Fox Sports Net, Discovery Channel, Outdoor Channel and Speed TV.
Races take place in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.
